The American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) was formed in 1941. The AOAO has 29 approved Osteopathic Orthopedic Residency Programs with 433 approved residency slots and graduates in excess of 50 Osteopathic Orthopedic Surgeons per year.

In order to promote the highest quality orthopedic service, the AOAO has long provided outstanding instructional courses on a semi-annually basis. American Society of ExtraCorporeal Technology (AmSECT)
