We would also like to  congratulate Alabama PAs for being 100% compliant in the required 12 CME hours during last year’s audit!

2009 ASPA Conference

2009 Objectives

 

The Alabama Society of Physician Assistants (ASPA) is scheduled to provide The ASPA Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Conference March 20-22nd, 2009 at the Emerald Coast Conference Center in Fort Walton, FL for healthcare providers, particularly targeting Physician Assistants and Athletic Trainers.  A variety of topics will be covered, which parallels the variety of topics found on the Physician Assistant (PA) recertification boards (PANRE.)  Full description of activities are listed in the program agenda.  The format is lecturer-learner.  These CME have been planned under the accreditation of American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), whom is accredited by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA.)  Twenty-three hours of CME credits are pending final approval.  This will meet state requirement for CME for Physician Assistants.

1.       Food Borne Illnesses – John A. Vande Waa, D.O., PhD.

2.       Pediatric Asthma – Tonya Cauley, PA-C

3.       New Management Options in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

          – Zari Aliabadi, PA-C, PharmD

4.       Intracranial Hemorrhages – Richard Nenstiel, PA-C

            (Neurosurgical PA)

5.       STD Management Update – Cheryl Vrettos, PA-C

6.       Coronary Artery Disease – Scott Urquhart, PA-C

7.       Reimbursement & Billing Issues – Michael Powe

8.       Trauma – John Mark Vermillion, M.D.

9.       Brain Tumors – Juan Ronderos, M.D. (Neurosurgeon)

10.     Suturing workshop - Paul Harrelson PA-C

11.     ACLS workshop - Provider TBD
