DESCRIPTIONS:
|
Accumetrics, Inc.
Accumetrics develops,
manufactures, and markets the VerifyNowTM System for monitoring
platelet function. The VerifyNow assays monitor platelet function to
optimize the safety of antiplatelet therapies and to minimize bleeding
complications. The VerifyNowTM assays for aspirin, P2Y12
inhibitors such as clopidogrel (Plavix®), and GP IIb/IIIa inhibitors are
easy to use, automated, rapid, and accurate.

Bayer Pharmaceuticals Corporation
Trasylol (aprotinin),
manufactured by Bayer, is a broad spectrum, natural protease
inhibitor. Aprotinin through its inhibition of multiple mediators
results in the attenuation of the systemic inflammatory response (SIRS),
fibrinolysis and thrombin generation. Aprotinin inhibits
pro-inflammatory cytokine release and maintains glycoprotein
homeostasis. In platelets aprotinin reduces glycoprotein loss (e.g.,
Gplb, Gpllb/llla), while in granulocytes it prevents the expression of
pro-inflammatory adhesive glycoproteins (e.g., CD11b).The effects of
aprotinin results in the reduction of the inflammatory response which
translates into a decreased need for blood transfusions, reduced
bleeding and decreased mediastinal re-exploration for bleeding.

Haemoscope Corporation
Haemoscope is the home of the TEG® 5000 (Thrombelastograph®)
Hemostasis System. The state-of-the-art TEG 5000 uses whole blood to provide a
complete picture of all phases of a patient’s hemostasis, from initial fibrin
formation through clot lysis. It quantifies hemorrhagic, thrombotic, and
fibrinolytic states so you can stratify risk of bleeding and ischemic events and
personalize therapies. By providing individual parameters, as well as the net
result of all the interactions of all the components of a patient’s whole blood
hemostasis, resulting in reduced use of blood product, reduced re-exploration,
reduced costs, and improved clinical outcomes.
