The Society for Pediatric Sedation hosted the Fourth
International Multidisciplinary Conference on Pediatric Sedation, June 8-9,
2009 at the Westin Philadelphia. The conference drew 171 sedation providers
from children’s hospitals around the country. Of the total participants, 55%
were physicians, 30% nurses/nurse practitioners and 15% were allied health.
In the two years since its inception in 2007, the
Society has gained over 400 members. This is the only society for sedation
providers that encourages membership from all disciplines involved in the
sedation of children. Their mission is to improve overall care and safety
during sedation and the advancement of research in the field of pediatric
sedation.
Dates for next year’s conference will be announced this
summer.
