VAPA 2008 Conference:
Overall Objective Statement
The 26th Annual Virginia
Academy of Physician Assistants Summer CME Conference is designed to
update multiple types of providers caring for diverse patient
populations on general medicine topics and current standards of care.
Sessions are
devoted to focused topics of interest including:
cardiac arrhythmias, osteoporosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease, chronic kidney disease, sleep disorders, autism, diabetes
management, dermatology, obesity, stroke management, wound care, pain
management, nutrition, asthma, urologic disorders, opthalmologic
emergencies, coronary artery disease, orthopedic disorders, and others.
Each session includes a question and answer session to allow
engaging the experts in open discussion.
Focused
small group workshops, for hand-on learning and further discussion, will
include the topics of :
radiology interpretation, trigger point injection, diabetes management,
dermatology procedures, suturing, medical Spanish, EKG interpretation,
advanced cardiac life support, stress management, and spirometry.
Upon completion of this
course the participant will:

Have a better understanding of general medical conditions and the
management of each

Value the importance of continuing personal education to benefit
patients in many ways

Have had multiple opportunities to interact with experts in multiple
fields of medicine and learn through lecture, discussion and
hands-on methods

Gain management and treatment strategies applicable to everyday
practice
The week’s educational
experience considers each individual’s diverse background and focuses on
assisting all providers in delivery of quality health care.
