| The University of Virginia School of Nursing is ranked in the Top 5% of Nursing Schools in the country. We were the first program in the Commonwealth to prepare Nurse Practitioners, and currently prepare NPs at the Master's and Post-Master's level in fice specialties (Acute Care, Family, Geriatric, Pediatric, and Psychiatric-Mental Health). U.Va offers two doctoral nursing programs: PhD in Nursing and the DNP (Doctor in Nursing Practice). We have the largest PhD program in Virginia, and all students receive two years of full scholarship. The University of Virginia was the first DNP program in the state, and will be enrolling the second cohort in Fall 2008. We are expecting our first graduates in Spring 09. | The VCU School of Nursing proudly offers programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The graduate programs include Acute Care, Adult Health, Child Health, Community Health Nursing, Family Health, Integrative Psychiatric Mental Health, Nurse Educator, Nursing Administration & Leadership, and Women's Health. Most of these specialties lead to certification as either a nurse practitioner or a clinical nurse specialist. We are also happy to offer Post Master's certificates in all of the specialty areas. The School of Nursing is located in a 1-year old, state-of-the-science facility in downtown Richmond, Virginia, on the MCV Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. We currently educate about 1,000 students in our Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs. Our close association with the VCU Health System, which recently achieved Magnet status, and the multitude of other hospitals in the area allow us to provide our students with the best possible clinical and employment opportunities. | |
